A creamier way to use açaí — this smoothie leans into soft coconut notes with a subtle sweetness from banana and date. It’s the kind of blend that feels right when you want something easy but still a bit elevated.

Originally created by Lorna Caulfield, this recipe has quickly become a go-to for its texture alone — smooth, airy, and slightly indulgent without being heavy.

When to have it

  • Slow mornings when you want something ready in minutes
  • Mid-afternoon resets when you’re not quite ready for something heavy
  • Warmer days when a cooler blend feels more appealing

What makes it different

This isn’t your typical smoothie. The coconut milk and coconut cream give it a softer, more cloud-like texture — less dense, more spoonable if you want it to be. The açaí brings depth, while the banana and date round everything out without overpowering it.

It’s simple, but it feels considered.

Ingredients (serves 1)

  • 140g SAMBAZON açaí (scoopable)
  • ½ banana
  • 1 Medjool date
  • 50g frozen mixed berries
  • 200ml coconut milk
  • 1 tsp coconut cream

To decorate (optional):

  • Coconut cream
  • Matcha powder

How to make it

Add everything to a blender and blend until smooth.

You can keep it slightly thicker for a more spoonable texture, or add a splash more coconut milk if you prefer it lighter.

Pour into a glass and finish with a swirl of coconut cream and a dusting of matcha if you like.

A note on serving

This works just as well in a glass as it does in a bowl. Keep it simple, or dress it up — it’s flexible like that.
